The role of the physiotherapist is to improve a person's mobility and independence. This c

ould be through helping them recover from a chest infection, controlling their pain or helping them to mobilise after a stroke. This approach can prevent someone from being admitted to hospital, speed up their recovery if in hospital and promote an early discharge. They work across a wide range of specialities and care groups.

Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing movement potential, within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. It involves the interaction between physical clients, families and care givers, in a process of assessing movement potential and in establishing agreed upon goals and objectives using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists.
